Ushuaia (pronounced oosh-wya) is the capital city of Tierra del Fuego. Lying at the southernmost tip of South America vessels bound for Antarctica set out from here. It takes a couple of days to reach the Antarctic Peninsula, crossing the turbulent Drake’s Passage on the way.
